MGS Ministry Update 6.16.16 – Divine Mercy & Divine Providence
by Kaitlyn Mason
God is writing the story. I am merely a storyteller.
There’s so much exciting stuff going on behind the scenes with the Mary Garden Showers ministry at the moment, I’m not quite sure where to begin!
A few months ago, we were praying to find a beautiful, clear, strong message that would bring comfort and hope to the Mothers we serve who are facing crisis pregnancies. Not long after that, I felt a pull to read Fr. Gaitley’s book 33 Days to Morning Glory during Lent, and found myself attending a Mercy & Mary retreat in Knoxville, TN.
There it was – crystal clear – the message of Divine Mercy.
Women in crisis need to know about the message of Divine Mercy. They need to know that God loves them no matter what happens. He is there for them in the midst of their fears and anxieties. He is protecting them, comforting them, and ready to forgive all of their transgressions. In short, God is merciful!
And the Mary Garden Showers ministry seeks to be a face of mercy to all women in crisis pregnancies.
Here’s what I’ve learned – when God is ready to answer a prayer, watch out!
Not long after we realized that Mary Garden Showers should be sharing the message of Divine Mercy, we connected with the authors of the new, awesome book “Divine Mercy for Moms,” Michele Faehnle and Emily Jaminet. They have a fantastic website divinemercyformoms.com full of resources as well. They’ve been kind enough to share information about the mission of Mary Garden Showers on their blog, and they’ve been a tremendous support to our ministry! It’s funny, they actually know Fr. Gaitley very well. They attended college with him, and he wrote the forward of their book.
I had a chance to meet Fr. Gaitley and some of the Marian Missionaries of Divine Mercy at the Mercy & Mary retreat, and I briefly shared our ministry’s mission with them. They graciously decided to supply our ministry with beautiful canvas Divine Mercy images! We are so grateful! These will be provided to Mothers as a gift at their baby shower, along with a small packet that explains the history and significance of the Divine Mercy image and message.
Additionally, we recently received several inquiries from people in the Columbus, OH area about potentially starting a chapter there. We are excited to announce that this is now a reality! Our fourth chapter of Mary Garden Showers will soon be hosting baby showers for women in crisis in Columbus, OH! And the women starting this chapter are actually friends with the authors of “Divine Mercy for Moms.” Small world, huh?
In short, we are excited to follow the Holy Spirit and begin sharing the message of Divine Mercy through the Mary Garden Showers ministry.
As St. John Paul II once said, “In the designs of providence, there are no mere coincidences.” I wholeheartedly agree.
P.S. God loves you, and He is merciful! Pass it on…
