A Calendar of Pro-Life Action Items for Lent 2016!

Our Church has compiled a list of awesome pro-life action items that you can slowly and meaningfully complete during Lent this year! The full list is below.

Please note, our documents will vary slightly from what is below as they are specific to our parish’s needs. Helpful links are included in this post so you can refer back to this as needed throughout your Lenten journey!
Join us as we offer up these actions to cultivate a culture of life and love this Lent!
Day 1 – Ash Wednesday, pray for success of 40 Days for Life campaign
Day 2 – Pray the Luminous Mysteries for pro-life counselors & organizations
Day 3 – Fast from caffeine in reparation for sin of abortion
Day 4 – Visit theradiancefoundation.org and share their graphics on your social media
Day 5 – Find a local pregnancy resource center and consider volunteering, call to see what is needed – not one in your area? Consider starting a branch of Stanton Healthcare!
Day 6 – Pray the Joyful Mysteries for all who will choose life this week
Day 7 – 6 weeks: Skeleton is formed, brain waves detected, say a prayer for babies at this stage today
Day 8 – Find local 40 Days for Life campaign prayer times and join them on the sidewalk today
Day 9 – Fast from TV and multimedia today
Day 10 – Spend an hour before the Blessed Sacrament in reparation for abortion
Day 11 – Adopt an unborn child by praying the Fulton Sheen prayer
Day 12 – Visit a hospital or nursing home this week
Day 13 – Visit talkaboutadoption.org to learn more about this abortion alternative & get involved
Day 14 – Pray the Sorrowful Mysteries for the conversion of abortion doctors, nurses, and industry workers
Day 15 – Find local 40 Days for Life campaign prayer times & location, and join them on the sidewalk today (or consider starting one in your area this fall!)
Day 16 – Read Psalm 139:13-16 & praise God for this
Day 17 – Pray pro-life Stations of the Cross
Day 18 – 18 days: A baby’s heart begins to beat, say a prayer for babies at this stage today
Day 19 – Prayerfully consider making a donation of time, talent, or treasure to a pro-life organization of your choice
Day 20 – Pray the Joyful Mysteries for promotion of a culture of life
Day 21 – 8 weeks: every organ present, 9 weeks: unique fingerprints appear, pray for lives at this stage
Day 22 – Find local 40 Days for Life campaign prayer times and join them on the sidewalk today
Day 24 – Pray Sorrowful Mysteries for women who have died having an abortion
Day 25 – Search for a local pregnancy resource center’s upcoming events or volunteer training days & consider attending
Day 26 – Check out American Life League site at all.org
Day 27 – Fast from social media today and open up your Bible instead to your choice of readings
Day 28 – 28 days: baby has eyes, ears, and tongue, pray for lives at this stage today
Day 29 – Visit Mary Garden Showers at marygardenshowers.org and consider starting a chapter of this ministry at your Church
Day 30 – Start 9 Day Novena to St. Joseph to protect the unborn
Day 31 – Pray pro-life Stations of the Cross
Day 32 – Find local 40 Days for Life prayer times & join them on the sidewalk today & sign up for their amazing email updates, too
Day 33 – Read Ecclesiastes 11:5 and reflect on this verse
Day 34 – Spend time with the Blessed Sacrament today & pray for our priests
Day 35 – 12 weeks: baby swallows and responds to skin stimulation, pray for lives at this stage today
Day 36 – Find local 40 Days for Life prayer times & join them on the sidewalk today
Day 37 – Call an elderly relative or friend today
Day 38 – Finish St. Joseph novena and pray for all souls in Purgatory
Day 39 – St. Joseph’s Feast Day, pray the Joyful Mysteries for all Fathers
Day 41 – Visit the 50 Million Names Project at 50millionnames.com & name a child lost to abortion
Day 42 – Pray the Sorrowful Mysteries for mercy & forgiveness for all who have had abortions
Day 43 – Visit mira-via.org and learn about the work of this 1st ever on-campus maternity home
Day 44 – Read Psalm 127:3-5 & pray for all married couples to be open to the gift of life
Day 45 – Begin Divine Mercy Novena to end abortion
Day 46 – Celebrate the that Christ has risen & prayerfully discern how you can get more involved in pro-life work in your area
