Kitchen Tables & Other Answered Prayers

by Kaitlyn Clare Elizabeth Mason

The Table

I sat down at my friend’s new kitchen table for lunch, and commented that it was nice and big.  She has a beautiful family of 5, and they were quickly outgrowing their old table.

“So it’s a funny story, actually,” she began.

She proceeded to tell me that just before Thanksgiving, she realized they would not have room to all sit at the table with their nice meal.  In prayer, she told God that she was sure He had bigger things to worry about, but that she’d love to have a larger table in time for Thanksgiving.

Not long after that, her husband casually mentioned that someone at work was getting rid of a large table for free.  He asked if she’d be interested, not knowing about her prayer.

They donated their old table and graciously accepted the new one – just in time for Thanksgiving.

The Treatment

A close relative of mine has been struggling with a health issue for years.  She was considering a risky surgery, but everything I read was saying that a team of doctors could probably provide efficient treatment.

Unfortunately, teams of doctors are often expensive.  I wasn’t sure how I could help, and decided to pray a rosary with some very specific intentions.

A couple of weeks later, I received a text from this relative, saying that her insurance would be covering the entire team of doctors that I had asked God to provide!

The Home

Another friend recently asked if I would please pray for her and her husband.  They are in the process of selling and purchasing a home – and we all know how tricky that process can be.

I told her that I would pray a rosary for them that day.

I specifically wanted to say a rosary, because I have experienced time & time again that this is an incredibly powerful form of prayer!

Shortly after this, my friend texted and said that “by some crazy miracle,” the seller of the home they had offered on agreed to their requests.  They will now be moving into the beautiful home where she was hoping to start their family.

Ask and You Will Receive

“Find your delight in the Lord, who will give you your heart’s desire.” –Psalm 37:4

What a blessing for these women & families who truly find delight in the Lord, that their heart’s desires are fulfilled through Christ!

God knows our desires before we even speak and open our hearts to Him. He is just waiting to shower us with love & abundant blessings!

He just asks that we are faithful and that we bring our petitions and requests to Him.

Tables, treatments, homes – these are tangible, physical things we can request from God.  But I have found that God also loves to fulfill our spiritual requests abundantly!

If you haven’t already, try praying for the desire to listen and follow His will.  Try praying for the desire to pray.  Try praying for the desire to read God’s word.  Try praying for the desire to go to Mass.

Then be vigilant.  When you ask for these spiritual requests, God won’t keep you waiting long.

“And I tell you, ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.  What father among you would hand his son a snake when he asks for a fish?  Or hand him a scorpion when he asks for an egg?  If you then, who are wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?” – Luke 9:13

Pray and be vigilant.  He won’t always answer in the way we expect, but God truly hears and answers our prayers!
